ToyBox Manitoba and the Prairie Climate Centre have partnered to bring you engaging activities that promote wellness for the Earth through sustainability. Together, we have created a series of activities to connect you and your children with nature while fostering a deeper understanding of climate issues. Through these activities, explore ways of leading a more sustainable life!

The Climate Atlas is a tool that combines science, mapping, and storytelling together to help people better understand and visualize climate change. These integrated knowledges are an effective way to teach climate change in the classroom. This guidebook was created to help educators navigate the Climate Atlas of Canada in the context of classroom education.

This pre-made slide deck was created for educators to introduce the Climate Atlas of Canada to their students. Included is a link to a step-by step video walkthrough tour as well as an example worksheet for students to use while exploring the interactive map. This handbook can be used prior to starting a Climate Atlas lesson plan, or on its own followed by free-time to explore the Climate Atlas.

In this lesson, students will examine the impact of a high carbon scenario or “business as usual” greenhouse gas emissions on climate change variables across Canada and at a local scale. The goal is to understand the connection between increasing carbon in the atmosphere and associated impacts on our environment and wellbeing.
Student Learning Targets
In this lesson, students will learn the impacts that climate change has on human health. By learning how health is impacted by climate change we can better understand how to protect ourselves immediately and in the long-term by taking steps and adapting our behaviours to reducing climate change.

On a surprisingly hot summer day, Salle 17 and their ToyBox friends head out on a camping adventure that quickly turns into a lesson about climate change. As they face real world challenges like blue green algae, fire bans, and rising temperatures, they learn how environmental changes affect their community and what they can do to help.
Created in collaboration with TOYBOX and the Prairie Climate Centre, this playful and research informed story blends literacy, numeracy, wellness, and climate awareness to inspire young readers to care for the planet and take action.
